Point Defiance AIDS Project
Purpose of the Tacoma Needle Exchange Program (TNEP) is to ensure that drug users have the same access to quality disease prevention and health care that other citizens of our society enjoy. Goal is to prevent the transmission of HIV, HCV, and other blood-borne pathogens among drug users, their partners, family, and friends. TNEP's efforts are directed by the acknowledgement that drug use and misuse is a public health issue. Seeks the equitable inclusion of drug users and sex workers in the health care system and fair treatment of these individuals by society at large. Supports unrestricted access to the tools and information these populations need to make healthy choices. At the core of this effort is the provision of sterile syringes and other injecting equipment, information, advocacy and referral to other services
