911 Communications offered at South Sound 911
Operates the local 9-1-1 service for Pierce County. Receives calls and dispatches police, fire and medical services throughout the county. It is preferred if people call, however, texting may be an option for those who may be in EMERGENCY situations where: - the caller is hearing/voice/speech impaired, - a medical emergency that prevents the caller from talking - when speaking out loud would put the caller in danger (home invasion, domestic violence, kidnapping, or active shooter) - any other emergency that makes it impossible to speak out loud. "Call if you can, text if you can't."
