Childcare Training offered by Refugee Women's Alliance in Seattle

Offers a customized job skills training program that prepares students for entry-level teaching jobs in childcare.   Ten-week training program offers up to 36 hours per week of in-class instruction, homework and an off-site internship at a licensed childcare center. Instruction focuses on caring for children, health and safety, job readiness, pre-employment ESL and computer basics. Upon successful completion, the childcare teacher trainees receive Washington State STAR Basic Childcare Training Certificates. Participants may also receive assistance with transportation, job interviews and job placement follow up as well as career counseling and job advancement strategies.   Rotates between ReWA's Seattle, SeaTac and Kent offices, depending on demand.

Call. Clients can visit site if they have a TANF case manager referral.

Eligibility

Low-income refugees and immigrants with English skills at ESL level 2 or above, with priority given to TANF (public assistance) recipients.
