SFMNP - Senior Farmers' Market Nutrition Program offered at Meals on Wheels Kitsap

Fresh, nutritious, locally-grown fruits and vegetables are available to qualified low-income seniors, aged 60 years and over, to improve their nutritional status while supporting local farmers. Produce may be purchased with EBT cards at local, state-approved farmers’ markets or delivered directly to homebound seniors between June and October each year.

An application will become available in May that must be completed and mailed to the Meals on Wheels Kitsap office. Call for more information.

For low-income Kitsap County seniors 60 years of age and older or Native Americans 55 years of age and older.

Meals on Wheels Kitsap, founded in 1973, is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to providing nutritious, well-balanced meals and more to seniors, 60 years of age and older throughout Kitsap County. Current program services include serving hot lunchtime meals at selected dining sites, providing convenient and nutritious meals for curbside pick-up at selected community dining sites, delivery of healthy, well-balanced meals to medically homebound seniors, nutrition education and dietary counseling for established clients, telephone outreach to seniors by trained volunteers, and coordination of the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program between June and October annually.
