Operates a regional Level I trauma center for adult and pediatric patients. Harborview's Emergency Services handle acute medical, surgical and psychiatric problems. Social workers are available for crisis intervention and give assistance to domestic violence victims. Serves as the Disaster Medical Control Center for Seattle/King County, responsible for coordinating the distribution of patients throughout the region in the case of disaster or mass casualty incident. Accepts newborn babies dropped off by the parent within 72 hours of birth. The parent shall not be prosecuted, remains anonymous and will be asked for medical history.
