HEN - Housing and Essential Needs offered at Serenity House Housing Resource Center - Port Angeles

Provides wraparound financial support to adults who are deemed incapacitated by DSHS and have no income or are enrolled in ABD. May assist with rent, move-in, utilities, hygiene supplies and transportation costs.  Provides the following for individuals approved by DSHS: Transportation Assistance (gas card or bus pass), Essential Needs (hygienic and cleaning supplies once per month), Ongoing Rent/Utility Assistance (most housing situations qualify), Limited Rental/Utility Assistance (as funds are available), Limited Move in Cost Assistance (as funds are available), Housing Search Assistance for those experiencing homelessness, Employment Counseling. Payments are processed to landlords and/or utility companies on behalf of program participants. HEN can only guarantee monthly payments 90 days at a time.

Eligibility

Must be deemed incapacitated by DSHS due to mental health, physical disability or being enrolled in a chemical dependency treatment program limiting ability to work, AND have no income OR participate in the ABD (Aged, Blind and Disabled) program. Earned income and assets will be evaluated by DSHS to determine if resources do not exceed income level guidelines. Certain government income programs are not eligible (such as SSI, SSDI and TANF). Once approved by DSHS, services are prioritized to those experiencing homelessness or at risk of losing housing.

Serenity House of Clallam County

Serenity House is dedicated to reducing homelessness in Clallam County. Agency programs provide very low income homeless families and individuals with services including shelter, permanent supportive housing and housing assistance through three regional housing resource centers. Serenity House is the lead agency of Coordinated Entry; works collaboratively with other entities; advocates for safe, decent, and affordable housing; is the leader in developing and implementing the Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness in Clallam County; and is nationally recognized as a leader in addressing homelessness in rural communities.
