Support Groups for Blind or Visually Impaired Individuals offered by American Council of the Blind at Yakima Valley Council of the Blind

Offers support groups for people who are blind or visually impaired, as well as people living with and/or caring for people who are blind or visually impaired. Groups occur during monthly meetings, which includes the group's business meeting and entertainment. Transportation can be provided to most meetings and events, if arranged in advance. Provides a monthly newsletter that informs members of upcoming activities and items of interest to the blind community.

$5 per year; people who cannot afford to pay are still invited to group meetings.

People who are blind or visually impaired, as well as people living with and/or caring for people who are blind or visually impaired or those interested in working with the blind or visually impaired.

Works to increase independence, security, equality of opportunity, and to improve quality of life for people who are blind or visually impaired. Provides non-medical information and referral, college scholarships (must be legally blind in both eyes), and some legal assistance. Publishes magazine, "The ACB Braille Forum," in braille, large print, on digital cartridge.
