Affordable Housing offered at Tacoma/Pierce County Habitat for Humanity Administrative Office
Works in partnership with modest income households to build and own simple, decent, affordable housing in safe communities. Process takes 12-24 months and requires mortgage through a FDIC/WADFI certified lender. Walks with potential homeowners through the lending process. Homes are often accessible, and can make accommodations for those with disabilities. Appliances are often energy efficient, to keep operating costs (utility bills) manageable.

Eligibility
- Must have lived or worked in Pierce County for at least 12 months. - Must have a need around housing - like living in an overcrowded space, living with friends and family, overpaying for rent or living in an unsafe location are some examples. - Income must be at or below 80% of Average Median Income (AMI). - Must have the ability to pay for housing - a fixed-term, fixed-rate mortgage from a third-party lender. - Must make a $1,000 earnest money payment toward the home. - Must invest in 100 sweat equity hours within 12 months. This can include help building the home, and/or in volunteering in the stores. - Must be committed to consistent and hones communication with Habitat staff.
