Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program offered at Pierce County Human Services Aging & Disability Services

Provides fresh fruit and vegetables to lower-income seniors with the goal of improving their health and nutritional status. It also supports local farming by increasing the use of farmers markets and roadside stands. There is a strict limit of up to $80 in funds per household. A limited number of funds are available each season, and completed applications will be processed in the order received. Application process

Call the ADRC, provide Name, Birthdate, Household Size, Income, Phone Number and Mailing Address or start the process online at PierceCountyWA.gov/farmersmarket. Those who are eligible will receive an application/affidavit in the mail. Complete the forms, sign, and mail it back.

Eligibility

- Resident of Pierce County - 60 years old or older (55 and older if Native American / Alaska Native) - income must be below 185% of Federal Poverty Level. That means: -- $2,413 Monthly Income for 1 person -- $3,261 Monthly Income for 2 people -- For larger households, add $848/month for each additional person.

Pierce County Human Services Aging & Disability Resources

Provides planning, funding, and advocacy for long-term care services in the community. Provides seniors and adults with disabilities information, assistance, and case management. Conducts in-home assessments to determine the need for in-home care, family caregiver support, or other community-based services. Also operates the Long-Term Care Ombudsman program, which advocates on behalf of residents in Long-Term Care (LTC) facilities.
