Seniors EyeCare Program offered at EyeCare America
Provides information and referral for medical eye care to older adults nationwide. Promotes annual, dilated eye exams. Raises awareness about age-related eye disease, including cataracts. Provides free eye care educational materials and facilitates access to eye care. People eligible for a referral through the program receive a comprehensive, medical eye exam and up to one year of care at no out-of-pocket cost for any disease diagnosed during the initial exam.

Application process
Call or visit Referral Center on website to determine eligibility for care through the program. The qualified patient is sent a letter of referral to an ophthalmologist in the local area for a medical eye examination and follow-up care for whatever condition is found.
Fee
None for eligible clients. The patient's insurance will be billed. Volunteer ophthalmologists accept Medicare and/or other insurance reimbursement as payment in full. Uninsured clients are accepted at no charge. Eyeglasses, prescription drugs, hospital services and fees of other medical professionals are not covered under the program.
Eligibility
U. S. citizens or legal residents, ages 65 and older, who have not seen an ophthalmologist in the last three years. Applicants must not belong to a HMO or receive eye care benefits through the Veteran's Administration.
