Residential Therapeutic Community Program offered at John Volken Academy Society
Residential Therapeutic Community Program offered at John Volken Academy Society
Offers a long term, residential addiction recovery treatment with extensive job training and life-skill training. Program operates on a system of privileges and sanctions, and focuses on six equal areas of development: - Physical - Intellectual - Emotional - Social - Spiritual - Financial Each component is required of residents in order to graduate from the program. Some component requirements are job therapy (introduction of work ethic through work at the Welcome Home Society's retail partner, the PriceCo), individual and group counseling, and spiritual practice. Similar to the 12-step model, program encourages participants to explore their own spirituality from within any religious framework, with no proselytizing. Residents are also encouraged to complete their GED during the program. Program is offered at two houses, in Shoreline and Lake Forest Park. Minimum stay is 24 months, maximum is 36. Women interested in the program will be referred to the Canadian location.
